Press Release 22 April 2019 : Sri Lanka Tragedy

We are deeply saddened by the heinous terror bombings of churches and hotels in Sri Lanka that occurred over the Easter period of our dear Christian brothers and sisters, as well as the sacred time for Muslims on the occasion of Nisf Sha’baan.

We stand together in solidarity united with the innocent victims and their loved ones against this tragedy and against any kind of violence.

Our hearts ache with pain at this gross violation of the sanctity of human life; an all too familiar narrative of pain and destruction across the world today.

Sri Lanka is a beautiful island and Sri Lankans are known to be beautiful, kind, warm, loving and caring people. These violent acts of terror attempt to rip apart societies by destroying all that is good. However, violence will not be triumphant. The good peoples of the world must collectively intensify our peacebuilding efforts to live love, unmake violence and work towards a more just, inclusive and equitable world for all.

Our love, prayers and thoughts are with our fellow brothers and sisters in Sri Lanka at this dark hour. The All-Loving God is with you.
